It's for a reason we haven't witnessed before...but for a brand that's been in the news a number of times lately.
Nearly 4,500 Packages MORE of a Popular Cheese Brand Have Been Recalled in One State
It’s been about three weeks since we filled you in about a Boar’s Head cheese recall, itself coming just about a year after the brand’s massive lunch meat recall due to Listeria concerns made headlines. Ultimately, The Associated Press reported a total of 10 people died in connection with the 2024 outbreak, while at least 61 others in 19 states became ill.
Now, a Tuesday morning report provided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alerted the public concerning a new Boar’s Head recall, this time for Brunckhorst’s Boar’s Head Chevre Goat Cheese, specifically the Cranberry Cinnamon flavor. The Boar’s Head website describes the cheese as being “hand-rolled in sweet, colorful and aromatic cranberries and cinnamon.”
The product was reportedly only distributed to the state of New York. However, the FDA doesn’t further clarify which establishments may have received the cheese or whether consumers were able to purchase it.
The ongoing recall, evidently first initiated on July 23 but not classified or documented in this report channel until yesterday, includes 4,464 total units of cheese—with 372 cases each containing 12 units of the four-ounce packages of cheese.
The cheese in July’s recall faced an issue due to “mislabeling”—and it appears a similar situation may be to blame again. The FDA says the goat cheese was recalled because “Package has incorrect Use By date.”
This is further backed up by the report, which lists the Use By date as 19/19/25. The agency did not clarify what the correct Use By date should be. Eating food past the expiration date can be harmful, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has suggested that a good rule of thumb to follow is that the softer the cheese, the shorter the expiration period.

The recalling firm, Stickney Hill Dairy, LLC of Rockville, MN, is different from the firm—Alpine Slicing and Cheese Conversion Company—mentioned in July’s recall. Stickney Hill Dairy’s website says they’re a national leader specializing in goat milk products “for commercial, food service and retail market segments.” This means they likely provide cheese to restaurants, grocery stores, and more.
The FDA has classified the recall as a Class III event, indicating the agency concluded the risk to the public is low and the cheese is “is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”
