For visitors of Costco’s chilled ready-to-eat case near the meat counter, there’s a popular item to flag if you were there as recently as last weekend. Kirkland Signature’s caesar salad and chicken caesar are known for the lettuce so crunchy, fresh, and chilled, with portions so sizable they easily last a day or two.

But on November 7, Costco and food supplier Ventura Foods issued an important notice that may make you think twice before reaching for either item.

According to the company’s announcement, both the Kirkland Signature Caesar Salad (Item #19927) and the Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad (Item #11444) are being voluntarily recalled over the “possible presence of plastic foreign material in the salad dressing of the items.” While the notice does not specify how the potential contamination occurred, or how many units were affected, the company is urging customers to take the advisory seriously out of an abundance of caution.

The caesar salads—as listed on Costco’s website—are packaged in clear plastic containers and include an assortment of ingredients: chopped romaine lettuce, fresh lemon wedges, shredded Parmesan cheese, garlic-and-cheese croutons, and two individual pouches of creamy caesar dressing. These components are typically appreciated for their freshness and convenience, but the presence of any foreign material, even in small amounts, can pose safety risks.

The affected products can be identified by their “Sell By” dates, which fall between October 17, 2025, and November 9, 2025. Customers who purchased salads or wraps within that date range are encouraged to check their packaging immediately.

Costco’s notice to its loyal customers concludes with a clear directive: “Please stop eating the product and return the item to your local Costco for a full refund.”
