Shoppers are urged to review a growing list of affected products, now updated to include items sold at Kroger.
Nationwide Fruit Recall: FDA Releases New Details in Updated Warning
This month started with a breaking national recall affecting four peach products sold at a range of top grocery retailers, including Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Costco, Target, Sprouts, Food Lion, Wegmans, and others. Now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just released a new pair of warnings concerning the recall, meaning you should check some labels twice before plating a fruit-based condiment alongside your favorite meal.
The initial recall announcement involved peaches distributed by Moonlight Companies: Moonlight Yellow Peaches, Moonlight White Peaches, Moonlight Peppermint Peaches, and Kroger Yellow Peaches. The fruit was flagged because it was believed to be contaminated with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.
Appearing on the FDA’s November 13 enforcement report, the new warnings state that several items—various peach salsa products containing the affected peaches—were distributed by GBC Food Services, LLC in 10 states, and by JFE FRANCHISING INC in 17 states. Due to overlap, the salsas were distributed to a total of 21 states.
Attached notices to both recalls indicate the peach salsa products were sold at Kroger store locations with the following identifying information:

In the attached FDA notice, it’s noted that the salsa products from GBC Food Services, LLC are “no longer available for sale and most are past its shelf life and should already be out of distribution, but if consumers have any product they question, do not consume it, but rather discard it.”
Consuming foods contaminated with Listeria can cause an infection known as listeriosis, which can be severe or life-threatening in children, seniors, and people with compromised immune systems.
“Listeria monocytogenes is commonly known for causing fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea and may also lead to stillbirth in severe cases. People exhibiting any of these symptoms should seek medical attention immediately,” writes the FDA in a warning letter related to the recall.
Though the FDA has not yet classified these specific peach salsa product recalls, the agency is urging consumers not to consume the affected salsa.
