While we expect sugar, flour, and chocolate chips in our sweet treats, a retailer is alerting consumers about possible metal contamination.

Popular Bakery Products Have Just Been Recalled by a Major Grocer

Nothing is quite as satisfying in the morning as a steaming cup of coffee with a freshly baked muffin. But if you buy your breakfast treats from popular East Coast grocer Wegmans, you may want to examine their labels.
On Monday, June 16, Wegmans announced the recall of four of their bakery products: Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins, Blueberry Mini Muffin Family Pack, French Toast Mini Muffins, and French Toast Mini Muffins Family Pack.
Wegmans lists the reason for the recall as “possible metal foreign material.” The notice does not share details about how the retailer was alerted to the reported issue.
While the announcement confirms that the muffins were sold at Wegmans retail locations, it does not share in which states the recalled products could have been purchased. However, the Wegmans website indicates that it has over 100 stores in Washington, D.C. and nine states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Wegmans notes the following details about the products:
- Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins 13.5 oz
