Experience

A Floridian at heart, Michael Spertus, MD grew up in Daytona Beach, FL. He ventured north to complete his undergraduate studies at Brown University, obtaining a Sc.B. Degree with Honors in Human Biology as well as graduating Magna Cum Laude, the university’s highest academic distinction. Dr. Spertus returned to Florida to study at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for medical school. For residency, he entered the Family Medicine Residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University, where he was Chief Resident. He continued his training and completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Institute for Family Health at the Harlem Residency in Family Medicine and the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine. During his fellowship, he completed additional training in medical acupuncture through Harvard Medical School. Dr. Spertus is board-certified in Family Medicine and currently practices evidence-based integrative primary care. He believes that Integrative Medicine approaches that treat the whole person and search for underlying causes of illness are essential to both individual and population health. His clinical interests include Integrative Medicine, preventive and lifestyle medicine, mental health, LGBTQ medicine, dermatology, and population health and policy.
