More Than 2,000 Cases of a Popular Cooking Oil Have Been Recalled

Updated: Apr. 22, 2024

It's little-known trivia that Kraft owns this social media-friendly brand. The reason for the late-day recall comes down to consumer safety.

Maybe you’ve heard of this popular clean-eating brand from nutrition experts’ recommendations on social media, but today the manufacturer has issued a safety concern: A recall has been announced for a brand that makes dressings, sauces, condiments, and nutrition supplements, thanks to a question related to packaging.

On April 22, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published an announcement that Primal Kitchen had issued a voluntary recall of approximately 2,060 cases of Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil in 750 milliliter bottles (25.4 ounces) “because the glass may be prone to breakage, causing the product to spill.”

It’s reported Primal Kitchen discovered the issue through monitoring at their warehouse when avocado oil appeared to have leaked in shipping containers. The company says no consumer injuries or illnesses had been reported by the time the recall announcement was published.

The announcement states: “The affected products were sold in the eastern United States, California and online nationally.”

The recalled avocado oil says the recalled products contain the following details on the “individual packages” of each 750 mL bottle:

UPC of 8-5523200719-4, Case UPC of 108552320071910000 and a “Best When Used By” date of 19 Aug 2025 through 21 Aug 2025.

A broken food container or security seal may allow contaminants or tampering, or it’s possible the broken glass itself can pose a health and safety risk to customers, retail employees, or anyone handling the product. The brand states that no other sizes, formats or batches are affected by the packaging issue.

It’s said Kraft purchased Primal Nutrition, L.L.C. in 2018.
